Dr. Balu Naik Depavath is an Assistant Professor of English at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bangalore. With over five years of academic experience, he has been actively engaged in English Language Teaching (ELT), translation studies, and literature, inspiring students with both scholarship and sincerity.

Born on June 8, 1989, in Kasikunta Thanda, a remote tribal village in the Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh. His early education in a government school was shaped by both struggle and resilience. A turning point in his life came through the support of the Student Federation of India (SFI), which provided access to books, clothing, and intellectual exposure, instilling in him a strong commitment to social justice, rational thinking, and education as a means of empowerment.

He holds a Ph.D. in English from Acharya Nagarjuna University, where he also earned his M.A. in English and M.Sc. in Psychology. In addition, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Guidance and Counselling. He has qualified for the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) and received the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Dr. Balu Naik’s research focuses on ELT and tribal education, particularly the learning gaps between tribal and non-tribal students and how social and cultural contexts shape language acquisition. His work also explores alternative pedagogical approaches and literary discourses. Before his current position, he taught in various institutions in Guntur, gaining valuable insights into rural and semi-urban educational environments.

He is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences and an active member of academic associations in the fields of language and literature. Fluent in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil, he brings a rich multilingual and multicultural perspective to his teaching and writing. Drawing deeply from his doctoral research and personal experiences, this book conveys a powerful message: English is not merely a language, but a means of transformation and a pathway to equal opportunity, particularly for marginalized tribal communities in Andhra Pradesh.
